Home Solar Power Ideas

Over $100 per month is the average spend by each household on energy bills as recorded at the beginning of 2009. The average car user also pays approximately $100 per month on gas. These energy costs will continue to rise as the price of crude oil shoots up again. However, it doesn't need to be this way. Wouldn't it be nice to change how you get energy, to make it cheaper and more environmentally friendly. You may have looked at the cost of home solar power systems and though, "How could this possibly be cheaper?" Surprisingly, solar power system costs are not as expensive as first thought which is what you will discover when you have a look at the figures involved.

What Are The Hidden Costs?Although they appear to be expensive, solar power system costs are actually not. If one particular model costs $20,000 or $30,000, tax credits might account for anywhere from $7,500 to nearly $15,000 alone for those models, just like there is a tax credit for hybrid and electric vehicles. A general guide is that tax credits will save you around one third of the solar power system cost, although exact savings could vary. However, the real savings are accumulated over time, so you won't really see them for many years. The costs are all upfront.

Solar power system costs are not spread out over a period of time. The savings will start to stack up once you have paid for the system and had it installed. These systems typically pay for themselves in anywhere from 7-12 years. The size of the savings you will make will depend on the amount of energy your household consumes and the size of the home solar power system you install. The bigger the system, the bigger the savings. Should you happen to produce extra electricity, you could sell it back to the energy company and make some extra cash. A DIY solar power system can increase your savings further by completely elimination installation costs.

The cost of fossil fuels on the environment is something which cannot be ignored with taking into consideration the solar power system costs. You need to bare in mind that by installing home solar power systems you will helping to reduce air pollution and the production of carbon dioxide. Saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars each year is a great incentive, but even more than this is the fact that you will be doing your part to protect the plant and become energy independent. Many people are justifiably scared about being dependent on foreign oil and other sources of energy, but now every single home owner can do something about it.
